A number of people attended the protest organized by PrSF and Mehran Students’ Association IIUI outside National Press Club Islamabad on April 22, 2022. Participants regardless of their ethnicity took part in the protest that was held against the killing of Nazim Jokhio for his heroic act of saving an endangered specie as well as against the denial of justice to Nazim Jokhio’s family.
The motive of this gathering was to raise the voice against the system that resulted in the killing of a man who tried to save the nature. The protestors showed their anger and grief on lack of legal action in this regard. The culprits which include MPA Jam Awais and his brother, they roam freely in this world. Even the names of the murderers have been eliminated from the FIR. Once again, the law in Pakistan has been paralyzed when the culprits were the privileged ones.
The protestors briefed, how the class system, for the instant, Wadera Culture has been abusing the people throughout the Sindh Province. Whether it’s a brick factory or a farmhouse, the common people face abuse of their rights in the hands of these people that are backed by their money and resources. Most inhumane act is that the names of the killer MPA Jam Awais is removed from the FIR thus he will not face any criminal charges and will live to continue practicing his sick idealogy.
Insan hain k sahme baithe hain ḳhunḳhar darinde hain raqsan
Members of Mehran Students’ Association IIUI raised the point that the ruling party in Sindh province claims to be so called savior of democracy in country. What kind of democracy is that where an innocent is killed for, he protested, hunting an endangered bird? Not a single word has come from PPP about brutal act of their MPA Jam Awais.
A human rights activists shared that the Saudi friendship has been very toxic to Pakistan for it brings an elite culture in. It is everyone’s duty to protect nature but the Saudi nationals get permits to hunt the exotic birds and animals. Nobody
The protestors demanded the justice should be served to the Nazim Jokhio family. Legal action should be taken against those who are involved in this act and measures should be taken to avoid such incidents in the coming future. Enforcement of law should be over all Pakistanis and not on specific classes only.
PrSF and Mehran Students’ Association IIUI ensured their support to the victims in any such act in the coming future and said that they must be together on this issue if further protests are in held in this regard.
